As home networks continue to advance in complexity and the public’s appetite for audio and video content accessibility increases, it is more important than ever to have devices capable of meeting these trends.
Stepping up to meet this increasing demand is the French audio and video system management company Zappiti. The company’s new Zappiti NAS RIP Audio Video Edition eight-bay NAS with RIP functions supports homeowners’ ability to rip and store CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray discs.
The product is designed to serve as a home entertainment audio and video storage hub. It can deliver content without compromising performance through its bit-for-bit processes that eliminate the need for compression technologies.
A single NAS RIP Audio Video Edition provides enough storage capacity for 120,000 CDs, 12,000 DVDs or 2,000 Blu-ray discs. Zappiti points out that integrators can link multiple NAS units to store thousands of movies, and the product utilizes RAID-5 backup technologies, which includes the option of hot swapping drives to prevent any loss of data.
Once dealers install its media players in a home, the system distributes media throughout a home via standard network connections. The NAS drives and complete Zappiti system is supported with the company’s software, which identifies movies, TV shows and more to deliver cover art and movie descriptions via its Zappiti Db software.

Zappiti adds its line of NAS products are available in four versions:

- Zappiti NAS 8S RIP Audio Video Edition: Building upon the 8N RIP Audio Video Edition model’s features the 8S adds a more robust processor for faster backup capabilities, as well as indexing and menu navigation.
- Zappiti NAS 8N: This is a basic eight-bay NAS product.
- Zappiti NAS 8S: Similar to the basic NAS 8N, but this model features a faster processor. Zappiti says this model runs quieter than the NAS 8N.
