Navigating the challenges of a historic home remodel, Mozaic Integrated Technology Design artfully blended heritage and high tech in this sprawling country estate. This project was a continuing evolution of overcoming challenges and making compromises, according to Mozaic CEO Michael Johnson.
“Dealing with plaster walls and older construction, as well as certain areas remaining fully intact in the main home meant, we had to make some compromises, including a hybrid mesh-based Wi-Fi system,” he notes of the eero network employed.
“We also had to select soundbars in some areas, as the ceilings were either too delicate to cut into or inaccessible, instead of our preferred all in-ceiling approach throughout.”
The complex nature was amplified by the estate’s role as a “working” event space throughout the process. Amidst ongoing construction, the Mozaic team even took creative protection measures, like shielding bollard speakers with buckets to fend off debris when not in use so that they could easily be uncovered and “brought into action” during times that events were hosted.
A mix of Sonos products in certain areas combined with myriad Origin Acoustics speakers blanket the country estate with high-quality sound. From the front door to the vast, sprawling grounds, sound composes a key part of guest experiences on the property.

“In similar fashion to the seemingly counter intuitive blending of historic charm and modern innovation, this project is also a testament to a combination of both careful planning, and adjusting to challenges on the go and being able for those two processes to coexist for the best results.”
