Amazon is beginning to roll out preview versions of Map View, an Alexa tool that shows homeowners a map of their home and the smart devices to make it easier to see and control devices.
The company began making a preview of Map View available to select customers who signed up for the new service, and the free preview is now available for iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPad Pro 4th gen and later.
Support for other devices and users outside the U.S. is coming soon, the company says.
According to Amazon, Map View gives users a quick overview on the status of their Alexa-controlled smart home on one centralized map. Users can control multiple devices in a room with a few taps, and they can access and organize devices and groups on the floor plan.
Via the map, users can also control lights, adjust the temperature, view live feeds, check door locks and control volume of Echo devices.

Amazon bills Map View as a tool that helps users visualize their entire smart home without having to remember device names. It is different from the Alexa Groups feature, as it allows users to quickly view and control connected devices whether they’re grouped or not.
While Map View is still in preview, Amazon expects Map View to be generally available in the Alexa app later this year.
The company first announced Map View in September during the tech giant’s annual Devices and Services event, during which Amazon also announced several new generative AI features coming to Alexa designed to make smart home voice control more intuitive and natural.
