WiSA Technologies says it is demonstrating the first instance of its WiSA E wireless software embedded into an HDTV at CES, where the company will show off the technology in a Hisense TV at CES next month in Las Vegas.
According to WiSA, it’s WiSA E embedded multichannel wireless audio technology allows TVs to connect to external soundbars and speakers without the need for an HDMI cable.
The software will be implemented on a Hisense Android TV, and will demonstrate the versatility of WiSA E and how it is agnostic to the TV SoC platform.
According to WiSA, embedding the software onto the TV eliminates the need for the soundbar to process the audio decoding and wired connections to the TV, helping to save the cost of an SoC, royalty payments and cabling.
The demonstration will include a 2.1 soundbar solution for Android TV and Android cell phone as interchangeable sources capable of streaming different video quality content directly to WiSA E-enabled speakers with the TV on or off.
The Future of Digital Lighting & Control
As a custom integrator, lighting is in demand. Effective communication, education and showcasing the value proposition of LED light fixtures in conjunction with integrative control systems are the keys to overcoming challenges and closing sales in this specialized market. According to WiSA, the technology provides a common software integration platform for TVs, Android devices and speakers. WiSA E for Android and WiSA Connect combine to manage wireless audio transport over standard Wi-Fi connected clients, system notification and software updates.
The technology is designed to evolve with advancements in audio technology so users can enjoy the latest audio innovations without needing to replace their audio system.
The company says use cases such as headphones for the hearing impaired, additional audio channels, and higher performance are all on the roadmap.
“We are proud to demonstrate the future of how audio will be delivered from TVs,” says Tony Parker, vice president of technical marketing and strategy, in a statement. “Embedding WiSA E onto TV platforms brings cost-effective, cable-free, high-quality multichannel audio capabilities to any TV, regardless of room application, audio decode or price point.”
WiSA began shipping development kits for WiSA E in July after first demonstrating the technology at last year’s CES. Last month, the company said member company Platin Audio has launched the first-ever soundbar to leverage WiSA E software.
