On March 28 – 31, the electronic security industry’s masses converged at the Venetian Expo for what seemed to be the busiest ISC West yet. According to show owners Reed Exhibitions, more than 27,000 attendees packed the aisles to the bustling vendor booths.
More than 500 exhibitors were on hand to share their wares with dealers, integrators and other practitioners eager to learn about the latest products and build partnerships.
Despite the chilly reception many attendees received (the average daytime temperatures ran in the 50s and 60s in what is perhaps the coldest ISC on record), spirits ran high amid an energetic atmosphere. Foot traffic burned up the carpet inside the convention center and it all became too easy to forget the past few years.
In fact, it seemed in many cases manufacturers were making up for lost time with a large quantity of new introductions.
While video surveillance and access control continued to dominate the landscape of new launches and solution enhancements, artificial intelligence was the most buzz-worthy technology throughout. However, as to be expected, AI remains in its preliminary stages as the market attempts to grasp its capabilities and potential.
