TP-Link is releasing a new indoor/outdoor camera under its Tapo brand that is being marketed as a low-cost solution to home security while retaining key features such as 2K QHD, full color night vision, IP66 weatherproofing and 24/7 monitoring capabilities.
According to Irvine, Calif.-based TP-Link, the Tapo C120 indoor/outdoor security camera features 2K QHD clarity and a starlight sensor and dual spotlights that provide color and high-definition resolution while night vision is in use.
The company markets the camera’s versatility, as it can withstand weather and be used outdoors or be installed in a baby’s room. The Tapo C120 also features two-way audio, so it can be used at the front door to monitor deliveries and guests.
The Tapo C120 also features an alarm system that allows users to record their own audio and adjust the brightness of the spotlights to deter intruders. Available for free in the Tapo app, the camera offers Smart AI detection to detect and identify people, pets and vehicles to ensure only relevant alerts and alarms are triggered.
Installation is easy, as it features a magnetic base design, a nearly 10-foot-long power cord, a flexible bracket and an app for control and customization.
Users can also store images and videos locally on a microSD card of up to 512 GB or by using the company’s cloud subscription service to access a 30-day video history.
The camera is currently only available via Amazon, with a retail price of $39.99.
The C120 comes after TP-Link last month released its Tapo Wire-Free MagCam.
