As the home entertainment landscapes continues to rapidly evolve, the streaming content provider SLING TV has announced several improvements to its platform.
According to the online service provider, some of the new user features it now provides include live sports scores, Apple purchase capabilities, user profiles, and in the app the service now offers one-click content purchases.
“Our top priority at SLING is to provide our customers with the best television experience possible. We want to put people in charge of their entertainment,” says Gary Schanman, executive vice president and group president, DISH Video Services.
“That means, we look for ways to deliver new innovative functions that elevate the viewing experience and give customers more personalized features and menus allowing them to control what they watch, and how they watch and interact with the information available to them on our service.”

Register Now!Live Sports Scores: According to the company, users can watch their favorite teams and games, including NCAA football and basketball, as well as NHL, NFL, NBA and MLB content. Through its new update, the service provider has added team records, seeding, game clocks, scores and the respective networks that are carrying each game. SLING TV points out that if a user is a subscriber they can immediately click into the game, while non-subscribers will be sent to a page to add the content.
The company adds the Sports Scores feature is built into the home page and it can be accessed next to the video player.
Apple Purchase Options: Sling TV points out that users can now utilize their Apple IDs to purchase SLING, to manage purchases and subscriptions and they can add on to their accounts via Apple Pay. Users can also access all purchased content on all of their devices, and users can also view their payment history and manage their SLING TV subscriptions.
One-Click Convenience: Free and current SLING paid subscribers can now immediately subscribe to recommended content they find through search, home page and even on partner platforms. This feature adds convenience that allows users to find a range of content.
User Profiles On All Devices: SLING TV says that users to create personalized profiles that contains their favorite shows, movies and DVR recordings. The feature allows for up to four additional user profiles that can be labeled and color-coded to differentiate among multiple users. The company also points out that some other features include personalized content on the Home Screen of each profile, the ability to schedule, manage and watch DVR recordings by profile, the ability to pick up where users left off with profile-specific “Continue Watching” and favorite channels specific to each profile.
With the abundance of entertainment options out there, consumers have only grown more shrewd in selecting their options as time goes on. In many instances, this has led to consumers scaling back on the services and products they subscribe to, especially in the wake of economic uncertainty. However, all this ultimately means is that competition for consumer attention is fiercer than ever, meaning understanding what options for streaming media devices exist on the marketplace is now more important than ever.
