Following the launch of the flagship DALI KORE speakers, DALI continues its 40-year history of loudspeaker research and development with the new EPIKORE 11.
The EPIKORE 11 follows the evolution of the EPICON series while also inheriting several new technologies from the DALI KORE flagship speaker. DALI boasts the EPIKORE 11 combines audio realism with luxurious craftmanship to create a truly exceptional musical experience. The DALI EPIKORE 11 is available in 3 colors: High-gloss black, high-gloss Maroon, and high-gloss walnut, and the new speaker will launch in August 2023 at $60,000 per pair.
“The EPIKORE 11 is the natural progression of our award winning EPICON speaker, applying the learnings from our DALI KORE flagship,” says Jason Lidle, product manager, DALI, Lenbrook.
DALI EPIKORE 11 Showcases Danish Heritage
Designed and built in-house, the DALI EPIKORE 11 highlights the minimalism, elegance, and style of classic Danish furniture design. The new speaker features adjustable spike feet outriggers to help provide solid, stable contact to combine functionality and design.
Explaining the new speaker in greater detail, DALI says the EPIKORE 11 incorporates a newly developed 6½-inch EPIKORE midrange driver that it says delivers a high levels of performance. The driver employs a complex embossed geometric structure of the paper and wood fiber diaphragm used in the DALI KORE, which lowers distortion without adding additional weight. The driver through its construction also helps to control the diaphragm modes. The midrange unit also features a titanium voice-coil, and DALI’s proprietary SMC Gen-2 magnet system, which it says lowers mechanical loss and distortion.
The Future of Digital Lighting & Control
As a custom integrator, lighting is in demand. Effective communication, education and showcasing the value proposition of LED light fixtures in conjunction with integrative control systems are the keys to overcoming challenges and closing sales in this specialized market. Register Now!Continuing its explanation of the new speaker, DALI points out the SMC KORE Crossover Inductors were first introduced with the DALI KORE loudspeaker, and now it has trickled down to the EPIKORE 11, which feature the world’s first SMC Gen-2 inductor cores.
According to DALI, when compared with standard air-core inductors, this technology allows lower DC resistance, a shorter signal path and less vulnerability to crosstalk between the inductors, especially at high inductances. These SMC KORE Crossover Inductors, together with hand-picked, high-end capacitors & resistors, ensure the EPIKORE 11’s crossovers are optimized exclusively for the speaker. The properties of SMC Gen-2 material also results in around 12dB less current distortion than equivalent iron-powder core inductors.
Addressing lower frequencies, the new speaker’s powerful magnet systems is based on DALI’s SMC Gen-2 material. More specifically, the EPIKORE 11 employs Four 8-inch woofers, which the company says can help its latest product to fill any room with a huge and precise low frequencies.
Providing more detail on the drivers the speaker uses, the new floorstanding model utilizes paper and wood fiber cone technology, which serves to reduce weight and adds stiffness to help promote non-resonant break-up characteristics.
Concluding its look at the technologies behind the speaker, DALI comments the EVO-K Hybrid Tweeter found in the new speaker was originally developed for its KORE loudspeaker. The hybrid tweeter design combines a large, in-house developed 35mm soft-dome tweeter and an improved version of the company’s high-performance ribbon tweeter element.
At CEDIA Expo 2023 in Denver on Sept. 7-9, DALI will show its line of products for surround sound and stereo applications in booth #3516.
