Samsung is adding cloud gaming provider Boosteroid to its lineup of Gaming Hub partners, and is also introducing backwards compatibility for partners apps in 2020 smart TVs after doing so for 2021 models last year.
The official announcement of bringing game streaming to 2020 Samsung smart TVs comes nearly three months after Mike Lucero, head of product for gaming at Samsung, told the crowd at Gamescon in August that the company would be bringing backward compatibility for its cloud gaming partner apps to 2020 TVs, offering few other details.
Gaming Hub was first launched on 2022 Samsung smart TVs and monitors and is also included on 2023 models. The company then introduced backwards compatibility for partner apps on 2021 TVs, and is continuing to expand that access to owners of select 2020 smart TVs.
Samsung this gives “millions of players” on 2020 models access to thousands of high-quality games. Players can access games through individual apps from streaming partners. This roll-out began earlier this year to U.S. and Canda customers, with global rollout now complete for 2020 displays.
2020 models that support game streaming services include the M70A, M50A, Q950ST/900ST/800T, Q95T/90T/80T/79T, Q60T, TU8500, TU8000, TU7000, LS01T, LS03T, LS03TS, LS05T and LST7T/9A.

2021 models with game streaming support include the QN800A, QN850A, QN900A, WS1A, QN700A, LS03A, AU7000, AU8000, AU9000, QN95A-QN85A, & Q80A-Q50A. U.S.-only support is on models 98QN90A, 32Q60A, all sizes of Q70A and AU8000.
Meanwhile, the company’s move to bring Boosteroid to Samsung’s Gaming Hub partners gives Samsung display users access to games on smart TVs, monitors and the company’s Freestyle 2nd Gen projector. Boosteroid joins other Samsung partners such as Xbox, NVIDIA GeForce NOW, Amazon Luna, Utomik, Antstream Arcade, and Blacknut Cloud Gaming.
Mike Lucero, head of gaming for Samsung, in a statement says game streaming is ore popular than ever, and the company wants to make it easier for players to access and discover games.
“With a Bluetooth game controller, virtually anyone can pick up and start playing games with Samsung technology,” Lucero says. “Our content library just got bigger with Boosteroid’s catalog of well-loved games.”
Vlad Kosmin, vice president at Boosteroid, says in a statement that the playform was created to offer access to high-end gaming rigs through the cloud.
“Samsung Gaming Hub is a dream platform for our players because it was built from the ground up for game streaming, removing barriers to entry with no downloads and no consoles or PC required,” Kosmin says. “We’re eager to welcome a new community of players to our platform through Samsung.”
Earlier this year, Samsung Samsung launched the Freestyle Gen 2 portable projector with support for Gaming Hub, which the company calls the first portable projector with cloud gaming built in.
