Gordon J. Technologies Inc., parent company of Tributaries, today announced that Tributaries model UHDAOC 48G Hybrid HDMI Active Optical cable (AOC) was awarded the DPL Labs 48G Reference Standard Certification.
To ensure that the UHDAOC will meet and exceed the specifications of HDMI 2.1b, Tributaries retained the services of DPL Labs, Ormond Beach, FL.

Tributaries’ UHDAOC is a 48G Hybrid AOC HDMI cable designed with a UL CL2 jacket, making it appropriate for long distance runs behind walls and any installation that calls for bit-perfect A/V transmission without data compression. Hybrid AOC combines glass and copper, with glass fiber transporting the high-speed video and audio signals while copper carries the DDC communication channel (EDID/HDCP), Hot Plug Detect (HPD), enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC), and +5V supply line.
The UHDAOC cables come equipped with a voltage-regulated 5V USB power supply and Tributaries’ proprietary model USB-VI, dubbed the “Smart Power Module” (SPM), which, Tributaries notes, solves the problem of signal drop-out caused by insufficient current from the HDMI source component supplying the HDMI’s cable critical 5V line.
The Tributaries proprietary USB-VI Smart Power Module also features a Low-Voltage Protection (LVP) circuit. If the source component’s output voltage falls below HDMI’s minimum operational voltage the SPM automatically activates to provide the regulated 5V. This “Capture and Supply” technique eliminates the possibility of video dropouts caused by HDMI source components that fail to maintain the proper operating voltages. Additionally, LVP circuit will block reverse current flow that could damage the source.
