THX is known for its training and certification programs, and now through the launch of its Onyx Headphone Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC)/Headphone Amplifier, it has introduced its first branded product.
The San Francisco-based company says the Onyx offers improvements over standard DAC/amplifier products through its inclusion of its AAA amplifier technology.
THX says that its new DAC/headphone amplifier also incorporates ESS Pro DAC chips and MQA support to provide the best possible sound quality at its respective price point to power headphones.
Some of the usage applications the Onyx can be used for include music, streaming video, and gaming.
The company points out the DAC/headphone amp connects to devices via USB and it can be paired with headphones, headsets, earbuds and desktop speakers. THX emphasizes the Onyx also provides users with smart magnetic cable management to keep wires from tangling up, and it features an all-metal, CNC-machined body with a 3D THX logo.
Designed to reduce distortion and to deliver high levels of audio quality, the Onyx reduces distortion by up to 40dB, and it can power a range of devices for increased dynamic range and sound pressure levels (SPLs)
