While lighting and shades made arguably the biggest smart home splash at CEDIA Expo 2023, they weren’t the only ways for integrators to address controllable room amenities that also add design flair to a space. One example came from AiSPIRE, a WAC Lighting company, which launched Modern Forms Smart Fans for custom integrators during CEDIA Expo 2023, held Sept. 7-9 in Denver.
Combining sleek style and sophisticated technology, Modern Forms Smart Fans fit into today’s smart home automation scenarios by providing versatile and simple-to-operate controls by AiSPiRE ABiCUS. Also debuting at CEDIA Expo, AiSPiRE ABiCUS is a universal DMX Gateway that delivers communication between lighting fixtures and control platforms.
Elegantly crafted using the finest materials and finishes, according to the company, each smart fan is energy-efficient with a quiet DC motor and is offered in various sizes, styles, and capabilities.
Direct integration with a smart home control system is available via the AiSPIRE ABiCUS gateway. Dealers can pair the smart fans with the Bluetooth remote control or use the Modern Forms free app to integrate and group fans together, create intuitive schedules that respond to homeowners’ behavior, and help them save costs on energy.
Most are wet-rated for both indoors and out with a smart fan style for seamless design continuity and connectivity with any architectural style of any home or structure, Modern Forms adds.

Here’s a brief description and look at features highlights of the new smart fans:
Aura
The Aura Smart Fan makes an ambitious design statement, seemingly appearing to float in the room. The flexible Aura Smart Ceiling Fan offers the look and performance desired in a bedroom, dining, or living area, Modern Forms suggests.
A 72-inch sweep and a broad array of eight blades transport a swiftly moving surge of air across a room from an overhead silhouette with a cool cutting edge, the company explains.
Aviator
Inspired by the golden age of flying, the Aviator Smart Fan takes fan technology to new heights, the company says. Homeowners can pair it with the Bluetooth remote control or use the Modern Forms app to save on energy costs or group fans to control together.
Three finish combinations include Graphite and Weathered Gray, Matte Black and Distressed Koa, and Matte Black, with 54- and 70-inch sizes available.
Renegade
An industrial modern design that performs indoors and outdoors, Modern Forms’ ruggedized Renegade Smart Fan incorporates wet-rated, weather-resistant aluminum housing and finishes to withstands the elements, while a quiet DC motor keeps things running smooth.
The company adds that Renegade has been engineered with refined proportions and generous scale, giving it a luxury aesthetic and powerful air movements.
Tip Top
This model presents a contemporary aesthetic take on classic smart fan design, Modern Forms describes. The wet-rated aluminum construction and versatile styling enable Tip Top smart fans to cool a sun-facing porch, or a lavish living room.
Modern Forms can also be a one-stop shop for dealers who wish to combine smart fans with lighting fixtures as they seek to “own the ceiling” or enter the fixtures category. The brand produces a variety including ceiling lights, outdoor lights, wall lights and stylized custom lighting designs.
