This client wanted to downsize and bought a 20,000-square-foot, high-end spec home to better serve the family’s needs. Having worked with the owners on their previous residence, Atlantic Control Technologies (ACT) took on their latest home. The only catch? This latest project was already about 80% completed.
“By the time our team was brought in, wire had already been run by the developer’s subcontractor, the walls had been drywalled, and final finishes were being applied,” explains Atlantic Control Technologies Owner Steve Riley.
Integrators familiar with being brought on late to a project should know all too well the spike in challenges that situation applies.
For Riley, his firm was tasked with supplying intuitive lighting control such as the Lutron HomeWorks system in their previous residence; house-wide music, including discreet solutions in formal rooms; easy control and cable/streaming app access from their 18 TVs; plus a fully equipped home theater.
Specifically, the client requested a fully bespoke home theater that would match the one installed at their previous residence.
The Future of Digital Lighting & Control
As a custom integrator, lighting is in demand. “[We] dropped some cabling down from the attic space, and had to manipulate a number of runs to provide adequate Wi-Fi coverage. The field team provided nimble solutions onsite which greatly improved the home’s infrastructure and functionality.”
“By utilizing retrofit options that mirrored the functionality of our first project together, we were [also] able to mimic the user interface they were accustomed to,” Riley adds.
For the theater, ACT worked around structural limitations to construct a dynamic space featuring a 150-inch acoustically transparent screen, 4K Barco Bragi projector, 7.2.4 surround sound using Bowers & Wilkins speakers and JL Audio subwoofers, and custom CinemaTech seating.
An impressive feat, this certainly isn’t the first time ACT wowed members of the CI industry with their installation prowess. Among other impressive projects featured on CE Pro, ACT is responsible for this thoughtfully constructed master suite designed to help the homeowner cope with ongoing health issues. There is also this vacation beach house in Delaware that helps highlight the firm’s talent with lighting and shades.
